So, here’s the thing: if you think Photoshop is too expensive - which, by the way, it is - you should definitely buy Pixelmator. It’s a really cool app, it’s way simpler than Photoshop and it’s damn affordable. $29.99 v. a few hundred.
I won’t buy it for the simple reason I already have an Adobe CS5 license, so I can easily and legally use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Which is cool, especially when Photoshop CS5 works way better on my first generation MacBook Air than Photoshop CS3 on my old and with a much better hardware configuration Dell.
Anyway, the point is I always liked Xara and it’s vector graphics software. Really simple to use and very effective. Pixelmator is somewhere in between Xara and Photoshop and it would be my weapon of choice on a Mac if I wouldn’t have a CS5 license - thanks Adobe for it, I owe you one.
